Instead of writing a yearly forecast, I’m sharing a more personal post this year!
I hope this format makes it easier to interface with me — whether that is me helping you, you helping me, or both!
Here are my focus areas for 2025:
More time helping Bamboo clients.
For the last 11 years, my #1 priority has been leading Bamboo’s day to day operations as CEO. With our longtime COO Aditi taking on Bamboo’s CEO role starting February 1st, it will enable me to spend time doing what I enjoy most: helping our people and clients directly. As much as I’ve found fulfillment in managing Bamboo, it’s just more fun for me to be directly useful to brand leaders who are solving tough growth challenges.
If our CEO succession is concerning to any existing or potential Bamboo clients, I can only assure you that Aditi is abundantly capable. She is better equipped than me in almost every important way to lead our team and clients into our next era. I’ll also have more time to help you directly where I’m best to do so.
More time helping leaders and brands outside of Bamboo.
In 2024, I did a small test of advisory work outside of Bamboo. I’ve been helping the insanely talented marketing leader Connor Rolain up level Hexclad’s growth team. It’s been so rewarding for me. I intend to do more of this work in 2025.
I’m particularly interested in embedding in with founders/startups as a builder-archetype growth leader. I’m most interested in startups that have found product/market fit, have clear organic growth, but their growth function is in a high ambiguity state. I am especially interested in helping early stage companies in AI, American Dynamism or other techno-scientific fields!
Entrepreneurial “Explore Mode”.
My last 11 years required singular focus on the health and longevity of Bamboo. With Aditi taking on that important role for Bamboo, I will spend all of my time doing #1 and #2 above. The useful byproduct of spending my time in this way is that I’ll get even closer to the current challenges of the people I am dedicated to supporting.
Challenges = entrepreneurial opportunities for solutions.
I might eventually start more agencies, buy more agencies to compliment Bamboo, or join another ambitious Mission in tech. For now, I am focused on being useful and really internalizing the problems I am helping to solve. I’m excited to have this entrepreneurial “explore mode” lens on for the first time in a while.
